Deb has been quilting for more than 10 years. She teaches quilting classes at Stitch Your Art Out near State College and also teaches at various camps and retreats.

Deb's longarm quilting business, Stone Valley Quilting, operates out of her home near McAlevy's Fort.

Deb works in Instructional Technology at State College School District.

When not working or quilting Deb enjoys spending time with her family and dog and also enjoys biking, gardening, cooking, knitting, and beading.

1 strip set of focus fabric--(40) 2 ½”x WOF strips, Jelly Roll or Bali Pops works great

1 strip set of background fabric--(40) 2 ½”x WOF strips, sample used solid white

1 12” square ruler

Rotary Cutter and mat--be sure blade is sharp.

Sewing machine (in good working order) and extension cord—a new needle helps.

Placemat for under the machine to prevent sliding and damage to tables.

Dual duty or cotton sewing thread to match your fabric. Light grays or beiges work with most colors.

Sewing supplies--pencil, scissors, pins and seam ripper

Irons and ironing boards will be supplied. Rulers can be shared. Unless you’re a quilter, I would not buy a new ruler. Bring what you have or can borrow.

Quilting: Summer in the Park

Strip Quilting

Course Description:

Summer in the Park—This fun and easy quilt is made from two contrasting strip-sets. Use solid white and a bright print collection to create the summery version shown in the sample. Use two contrasting batik strip sets for a more muted version.

Perfect for a picnic blanket. Finished size 56" x 80".

Course Cost:

$60, includes class fee, lunch, Vendor Fair admission and ticket to Saturday night's Folk College concert.
